JONES BEACH JUNIOR LIFEGUARD 2010 INFORMATION
IMPORTANT UPDATE:
THERE WILL BE NO TEST FOR NEW CHILDREN ON SUNDAY, JUNE 13, 2010 EXCEPT FOR 10 YEAR OLDS. DUE TO THE ENROLLMENT FROM THE 2009 PROGRAM AND RETURNING CHILDREN WE HAVE REACHED OUR MAX NUMBER OF CHILDREN FOR EACH AGE GROUP.
THIS WAS DISCUSSED WITH THE STAFF AND STATE OF NEW YORK OFFICE AND TO MAKE IT A SAFE PROGRAM FOR THE CHILDREN THIS HAS TO BE. SUNDAY THE 13TH WILL BE FOR 15 NEW 10 YEAR OLD SPOTS ONLY. STAY TUNED DURING THE WINTER MONTHS FOR INFO ON THE 2011 PROGRAM. -JB JUNIOR STAFF

Sunday, June 6th 8:00 am at the West Bathhouse pool. Qualifying swim day for children previously in the 2009 program ONLY.
You must make this day in order to keep your spot in the program for 2010.
There will be no exceptions to this unless I am notified well in advance.

Sunday, June 13nd, 2010, 8:00 am at the West Bathhouse pool.Tryouts for children ages 10-16 previously NOT in the 2009 program.

The number of positions available for each age group (if any) will be determined after the Qualifying swim day for children already in the program. The # of openings in each age group will be posted on the website before the June 13 tryout.

All new positions will be based on the top qualifying times in the 100 yard swim and the number of spots available in each particular age group.

Birth certificates will be required for all 10 year olds when trying out. There will be 15-20 entry level 10 year old spots available.

The sessions will run each Sunday from 8:00 am – 10:00 am starting Sunday June 27 through August 8th at the East Bathhouse pool.

Sunday, June 27th 8:00 am - First Day of Program at the East Bathhouse Ocean

Monday, July 12th - Junior Lifeguard Tournament at Jones Beach: at the East Bathhouse Ocean

Sunday, August 8th - Last Day of Program
The 100 yard qualifying times are as follows:

10 year olds - 1:45 for 100 yards

11 year olds - 1:30 for 100 yards

12-14 year olds - 1:20 for 100yards

15-16 year olds - 1:15 for 100yards
The registration fee will be $100 from all who qualify. Please have your cash or checks on the date of tryouts payable to “Natural Heritage Trust”
We urge all the children to keep practicing now and throughout the year. Thank you for your continued support
We are looking for any type of sponsorship for the program and the Jones Beach Tournament. Company logos can be printed on any one of our issued uniform pieces.
