Chip Gorman, Deputy Regional Director of Long Island Parks, has shared the following. "The Park Commission is cautiously optimistic about the opening of the Long Island Parks. The Parks are currently working closely with the Department of Transportation in the restoration of Ocean Parkway and the traffic circle at Robert Moses. The goal will be to open the majority of the parks damaged by the storm and to secure the boardwalk at Jones Beach and Robert Moses. The loss of lifeguard shacks may result in temporary trailers." The park commission felt it important to keep the corps informed. We have had a number of lifeguards willing to assist in restoring the parks. Parks appreciates our support and will make efforts to use our services at the proper time.
