Back in the 1930's, 1940's and even the 1950's the lifeguards conducted games of surfboard water polo nightly in the West Bath pool in tandem with the water aquacade shows. Does anyone out there have any information on that?

Got the info on this one; from an August 1934 Nassau Daily Review article;
Tonight on Wednesday August 8th, 1934: The new sport of Surf Board Polo that is all the rage in Hawaii was brought to Jones Beach by Hawaii import & Columbia graduate Lifeguard Lieutenant Bill Mullahey. He introduced surfboard water polo to Jones Beach by staging a game between the East Bathhouse and West Bathhouse in the West Bath pool. There were 5 man teams captained by each Lieutenant. Bill Mullahey captained the East Bath team and Bill Marquette captained the West Bath team. East Bath team won 3-1. The Line-ups were as follows:
East Bathhouse- Lt Bill Mullahey, Fitzgerald, Ned Gagliano, Mortimer, Carter, Eakins.
West Bathhouse- Lt. Bill Marquette, Tom McGloin,Ed Kubalek, James Lancaster, Beateau, Jim Hoolihan.
Bill Mullahey scored 2 goals and Fitgerald scored the 3rd for East Bath while Bill Marquette scored the lone tally for the West. More exhibitions are planned for the rest of the summer.
